Obituary:
Robert L. “Bob” White, 75, a lifelong resident of Wall passed away on Monday, January 14 at Geraldine Thompson Care Center, Allenwood. Bob was a graduate of Manasquan High School and served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of the West Belmar United Methodist Church and donated his home-cooked soups for the church’s Soup Kitchen for many years. Bob worked for the Township of Wall for 25 years and retired as an assistant forman in the Water Department. He served as Wall Township Historian and continued his interest in local history. He self-published two small books about New Jersey shipwrecks and railroads, and he documented local cemeteries to research genealogy. Bob collected postcards, traveled, and enjoyed cooking, camping, visiting lighthouses, and spending time by the fire in The Lot.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert M. and Hazel White and a sister Audrey Newman. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Mary “Bobbi” White of Wall; two daughters and two sons-in-law Robin L. and Harry Harvey of Point Pleasant and Shari L. and Steven Blecki of Wall. Bob is also survived by three grandchildren—Chelsea, Madison and Ethan—and nieces and nephews.

His family will forever be grateful to the entire staff of the Geraldine Thompson Care Center.

My condolences to Bob's family. Bob was instrumental in helping me to continue documenting and detailing Atlantic View Cemetery in Manaquan. His dedication to the history of NJ and the shore was amazing.

My sincerest condolences to the entire White family on the passing of Mr. White. He was a great man with a kind heart whom always had a kind word and smile for all. A true Wall Twp native who cherished family and helping others. Our town was a better place because of him. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace. There is in all likelyhood a sweet outdoor fire burning somewhere in heaven no doubt.
