Obituary for Edward Coughlin

Edward J. Coughlin, 80 of Belmar passed away at his home Monday April 17, 2017. Edward was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ and graduated from Ferris High School. After his graduation Ed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served from 1955 to 1959 and attained the rank of Sergeant. Ed was stationed on the USS Lake Champlain from 1955 to 1957. After his service Ed worked for Colgate-Palmolive in Jersey City for almost 20 years retiring as a foreman. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and pool with his daughters and grandchildren and was always ready for a good political discussion.

Ed was predeceased by his cherished wife, Helen; his daughter Michele Coughlin and his son-in-law William Powell. He is survived by his four daughters Laura (Kevin) McGlynn of Farmingdale, Linda Powell of Tinton Falls, Charlotte Coughlin of Spring Lake Heights and Alicia (Christopher) Piccinnini of Wall. Ed was a loving “Pop Pop” to his nine grandchildren Christopher, Lindsay, Alanna, Brenda, Brian, Connor, Liam, Ava and Kellan. He is also survived by his dear brother Joseph (Linda) Coughlin of Manchester

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, April 21 from 5-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Saturday, April 22 at St. Rose Church, Belmar.
