Obituary for Melvin "Butch" Kenney
Melvin “Butch” Kenney, 73 of The Villages FL formerly of Brielle, NJ passed away at his home on Friday December 1, 2017 with his family by his side. Butch was born and raised in Brielle, NJ where he was a graduate of Manasquan High School. He had worked as an auto body mechanic and was also known as an “All Purpose Man” because besides fixing cars there was nothing else he couldn’t fix. He had worked for Howard Height Auto Body, Manasquan and Plaza Ford and Sansone Ford of Neptune for over 30 years. After retiring from Sansone Ford he then became the maintenance director for King Manor Care Center, Neptune for over 10 years. Butch loved fishing, scuba diving and loved either participating or watching all sports.
Butch is survived by his wife Christa (nee Meyer) Kenney of The Villages, FL; a stepson Merrel Neal and his wife Sarah of West Chester, PA. He is also survived by two brothers Fred Kenney and his wife Norma of Brielle and Aubrey Kenney of Plainfield, NJ. Butch was predeceased by six brothers Clarence, Ernest, Jr., Norman, William, Alfred and John Kenney; three sisters Katherine “Lucy” Weston, Olive Kenney Lee and Mary Blue; and seven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday December 11, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A masonic service will be conducted by the Mt. Pisgah #48 of Asbury Park, NJ, Monday evening at 7 pm. .A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 11 am at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 North Main Street Chamberlain, SD 57325.
