E. David Dupre
E. David Du Pré, 95 of Brielle passed away on Friday December 22, 2017 at Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains, NJ. Dave was born in Irvington and had lived in Irvington, Asbury Park, Manasquan and Brielle since 1962. He graduated from Saint Benedict’s Prep, received a Bachelor of Arts from Benedictine College, his Master’s Degree and PhD from Fordham. Dave was a guidance counselor at Boonton High School, Boonton, NJ. He was a communicant and usher at the Church of St. Denis, Manasquan. As a devout Catholic, growing up he was an altar boy and later studied theology at Holy Cross Seminary, Colorado. Dave was an advocate of education, supporting St. Joseph’s Indian School, Chamberlain, SD and many young individuals he came to know throughout his life. He was treasurer and founder of a camp for underprivileged children in NY, past president and active member of the Union Landing Historical Society, Brielle. Dave was instrumental in the formation and maintenance of Brielle’s 9-11 Memorial Park.
Dave was predeceased by his parents Herman Dupré and Ethelrita (nee Handy) Dupré; two older brothers Paul Dupré and Vincent Dupré. He is survived by six nieces and nephews Marie Noesner, Dennis Dupré, Leo Dupré, Dianne Chmielewski, Mary Mastro, Cecile Wein and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday December 30, 2017 from 8:30 am until 10 am at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am on Saturday December 30, 2017 at Church of St. Denis, Manasquan. Interment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School PO Box 100 Chamberlain, SD 57325-0100.
