H. David Cummings, 83 of Toms River passed away on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. David was born in Cranford, NJ and moved to the shore area in the mid 1940’s where he lived until ten years ago when he moved to Toms River. David was a naval veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked as a homebuilder with his brother Harold before he and his brother became commercial oil burner repairmen. David was a very active member of the Bible Baptist Church of Wall and Howell, in the fact that he physically helped build the church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He enjoyed his gardening and going to estate sales.
David was predeceased by his loving wife of 37 years Margaret L. Cummings in 1996; his two brothers Harold and Richard Cummings. He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law Paul and Victoria Cummings of Toms River and Mark and Lori Cummings of Brown Summit, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren Mark Cummings, Jr., Andrew (Katie) Cummings, Tyler Cummings, Kathleen Cummings and David Cummings.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday July 26, 2018 from 10 am to 11 am at Crosspoint Baptist Church 462 Squankum Yellowbrook Road Farmingdale, NJ 07727 with the funeral service to begin at 11 am. Interment to follow at Brig Gen William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Crosspoint Baptist Church.
