Obituary for William Kemple Sr.

William  Kemple Sr.
William J. Kemple Sr., 80, of Sea Girt passed away peacefully on Saturday September 22, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, surrounded by his family.
William was born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Hoboken and lived in Hanover Township before retiring to Sea Girt. He attended Our Lady of Grace Elementary School in Hoboken, St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City where he graduated with a BS in Economics. He was also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. For 37 years, William worked at the Bank of New York in New York City where he rose to the position of Senior Vice President of Operations.
William served his country in the Army Reserves, was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt, and was a member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer, traveled widely, loved living at the Jersey Shore, reading and Impressionism art. He was an excellent cook, a Yankees and Giants fan, and wintered in Columbia, South Carolina.
William is predeceased by his parents, William and Mary from County Galway in Ireland, and Frances his wife of 51 years.
William is survived by his daughter Lisa K. Leonard and her husband Joel of Columbia, South Carolina, his sons William J. Kemple Jr. of Sea Girt and Sean Patrick Kemple and his wife Sarah of Alexandria, Virginia, his grandchildren Morgan Kemple, and Kelsey, Tyler, Timothy and Michael Leonard. He is also survived by his twin sisters Maureen Hopkins of Union and Margaret “Peggy” McDermott of Northvale.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday September 26 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Orender Family Home for funeral, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am at St. Mark’s Church 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt. Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall Township.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Peter’s Preparatory School, 144 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302. To send condolences to the family or obtain directions to the funeral home please visit
