Our History

Kevin P. Orender was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. He attended St. Rita’s Grammar School, and the Moore Catholic High School. After high school he attended Kean College for one year before attending American Academy McAllister Institute for Funeral Service. He received his New York Funeral Directors license in 1981. Upon graduating from AAMI, he worked for a family owned business, Casey Funeral Home. During his time at Casey Funeral home, Kevin also became a New York City Police Officer. He was a police officer for 8 years, working in the narcotics division for six years. He then transferred into the New York City Fire Department. He was stationed in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan for 11 years before retiring in 1999.

Upon retiring, Kevin came to New Jersey and received his New Jersey Funeral Directors license in 2000. He was the manager of Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home until 2004. He opened the doors to the Orender Family Home for Funerals in August of 2004.

Kevin feels with 20 years dedicated to public service and over 30 years experience of funeral service, he could provide the facility, the personal service, and compassion at a time when it is most needed. Kevin always said, “When a family calls, it’s my job to lessen the burden on them for the next several days, regardless of what it takes. I make myself a part of every family I serve.”
