Obituary for Dolores Theresa Tully (Eldridge)

Dolores Tully, 86, of Spring Lake, passed away on Friday, June 15th, 2018, after a brave fight against ovarian cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Peter J. Tully in 1994.
Dolores' passion was sewing, and around that talent she created a life with wonderful friends and a dedication towards service to her church and community. She was the president of The St. Catherine's Altar Sewing Guild over ten years. She continued to generously use her talents to make altar linens for St. Margaret's and St. Catherine's churches, teach sewing in the community, and craft beautiful items to be sold in the Guild’s annual craft fair, for as long as she was able.

Dolores and her husband, Peter, raised their family in Manhattan, their hometown. She loved going to Broadway musicals, the ballet, and museums. When her children were grown, she started a career at Redbook magazine as an editorial assistant and enjoyed being part of the Hearst publishing world. While she was there, she became interested in the art of calligraphy as a hobby, and became a magnificent calligrapher, adding to her creative talents. Dolores had a gift of making everything that she touched look beautiful, and her generous spirit and gentle heart will be missed.

She leaves behind her two children, Mark and Susan, her grandchildren, Molly, Maggie, Peter and Jack, and Susan's husband, James.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St Margaret’s Church, Spring Lake on Friday June 22, 2018 at 10:30 am.

Dolores will join her husband, Peter, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York. There will be a memorial service announced in August to be held in New York.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Spring Lake Theatre Company, which allowed Dolores to continue to enjoy her love for the performing arts, in her own town. 300 Madison Avenue, Spring Lake, 07762. Arrangements are under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals.
