James Georgas, 87 of Wall, NJ formerly of Upper Saddle River, NJ passed away on December 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late William Georgas and Laricos Georgas, he was born on August 22, 1931 and raised in a close-knit Greek family in Freeport, NY with his two brothers: John Georgas, now deceased and George Georgas of Bradenton, FL. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in engineering. He was a member of the ROTC and the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity while at Lehigh and a strong supporter of his alma mater all his days. After college Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in the Engineer Corps serving in Korea from 1953-1955. Jim has a long successful career as an engineer and was proud to own his own business for over 30 years, Bankauf-Georgas Associates, Inc.

In addition to running a successful business, Jim stepped in and wrote a sports column for the local newspaper for many years and never missed his childrens’ events – be it a band concert or ball game or wrestling match. Jim also achieved membership in the “Million Pint Club” donating blood and platelets for many years. What he enjoyed more than anything was being out on the water of Barnegat Bay or the Hudson River on one of his sailboats the Free Spirit or Yankee II.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eileen Kucera Georgas, as well as his three children: William James Georgas of Allen, TX and his wife Julie Jaspan Georgas; Mary Ellen Georgas-Tellefsen of Manasquan, NJ and her husband Eric Tellefsen; and David John Georgas and his wife Naz Ahmed Georgas of New York, NY. He was also blessed with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, including the youngest, at 18 months old, his namesake James Georgas.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday December 30, 2018 from 1pm – 4 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736 with a service to begin at 4 pm. The interment will be 11:30 am Monday December 31, 2018 at Brig Gen William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central New Jersey 23 Main Street Suite D1 Holmdel, NJ 07733 or online for its hospice program. James’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5: 28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.
