Lori Ann (nee Cirronella) Romer, 57 of Howell passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2018 with her family by her side. Lori was born on November 20, 1961 in Staten Island and was raised in Colts Neck, NJ. She graduated from St. John Vianney High School and Seton Hall University School of Nursing. Lori worked for over 30 years as a psychiatric nurse. She worked for the state of New Jersey at Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital and at Brisbane Hospital for Children. Lori then worked as a nurse/screener at Kimball Medical Center and on the Children’s unit at Monmouth Medical Center. She spent nearly 20 years working with individuals experiencing mental illness for CPC Behavioral Health Services and as an advocate for families with the Monmouth County Mental Health Association. She brought extraordinary skill and passion working with people struggling with serious mental illness and providing support to people who experienced the loss of a loved one by suicide. She, and her husband Jim, facilitated a support group for Survivors of Suicide through Monmouth Medical Center for over 25 years. Lori was honored last year by CPC for her lifelong dedication and compassion for survivors of suicide. Lori is a devoted communicant at Saint Martha’s Church and was planning on volunteering as a parish nurse upon retirement.

Lori fought the good fight after being diagnosed with cancer five years ago and we would like to thank Dr. Seth Cohen of MMC and his team that supported her in this fight. Despite ongoing treatment she lived her life to the fullest as a mother, wife and psychiatric nurse. She leaves behind her best friend, soul mate and husband, Jim and her 21 year old son and pride and joy, Jim Jr. Lori also leaves behind her loving parents, James and Dolores Cirronella of Freehold, her brother James Cirronella and his wife Cheryl of Teaneck and her sister Jamie Gross and husband Glenn of Jacksonville Florida. She also leaves behind her niece, Lauren, and her two nephews Matthew and Robert.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 3-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 12, 2019 at St Martha Church 3800 Herbertsville Road Point Pleasant, NJ 08742. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
