CHRISTOPHER DAY ROBINSON (Chris), 56 years old, of Manasquan, known for his deep appreciation and respect for the ocean, passed away while visiting Rincon, Puerto Rico, doing what he loved most in life. Whether he was surfing, sailing, swimming, paddle boarding, or cruising on his Boston Whaler, his infectious smile was brightest when he was in the ocean.
Chris was a proud resident of Manasquan, New Jersey, where he raised his beloved surviving children — Ann Katherine, Sara Bernadette, John Christopher and James Christopher, together with their mother, Tara Robinson. Chris is also survived by his loyal black Labrador, Summer.
He enjoyed countless beach days, served as a life guard for several years in the mid 1980s, and he made many happy memories.
Born in Trenton, NJ to Sarah Bonham Robinson and Bruce Robinson, Chris was raised in Westfield, NJ. He is also survived by his beloved siblings: brothers, Brooke and Andrew and sister, Megan. Chris was also an uncle to a number of nieces and nephews. He attended Westfield High School, and afterwards, attended the Florida Institute of Technology, which ignited a successful career.
Chris launched his career in the offshore technology industry as a pilot of Remotely Operated Vehicles and was employed by Subsea International. He continued his career with Eastport International, where he engaged in undersea salvage work for the U.S. Navy. Chris proudly participated in the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger Mission off the coast of Florida.
Later, Chris’s career transitioned into the computer networking industry where he was employed by several telecommunications companies, including Lucent Technologies. Most recently he was employed by Pure
Storage as an Account Executive.
Chris will be deeply missed by his family and by his many friends from all walks of life and from around the world. Never to be duplicated, his friendly demeanor and infectious smile always will be remembered —-
especially when the sun is glistening upon an ocean wave.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 1 - 3 pm with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 2 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ. As Chris was a pet lover, the family suggests that donations in his memory be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, www.monmouthcountyspca.org or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
