Carol Ann Bailey, 65 passed away too soon at home in Ocean Grove on April 29th. She was the daughter of the late Ruth (Smythe) and Forman T. Bailey. Carol was a graduate of Neptune High School, class of 1972, and Susquehanna University.

Carol worked at various jobs throughout her life, from banking to social work. For over ten years Carol was a loving caregiver to both parents, adding quality to their later years and allowing them to remain at home. Incredibly artistic, Carol painted both furniture and clothing for sale. Since childhood she had a flair for writing, both stories and poems. She was amazingly knowledgeable and articulate on a broad range of subjects, from medicine to current events to environmental issues. We will all miss her sharp sense of humor.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Paul Hinson. She will be sadly missed by her sister Barbara of Newport, RI and her brother William and wife Barbara of Neptune. Other survivors include her niece Rebekah Bumbernick, her husband Scott and their son Declan; nephew Russell Bailey and niece Mary Bailey. Carol was blessed to have a caring group of friends and neighbors who helped and encouraged her throughout her illness. Those who loved her will never forget her tenacity, wit and grace as she battled her disease. The family thanks all the amazing and compassionate medical personnel who cared for her since her diagnosis in early 2017.

Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. To honor her spirit, contributions may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation (, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714, a valuable resource for those battling pancreatic cancer, or a charity of the donor's choice. I was so sorry to learn of Carol’s passing. I’d like to share a few fun memories from our childhood days. Carol was the smartest kid in our class. She could remember historical events and the names of everyone in office- Congress or House of Representatives etc. We were only about 10 years old . The 1st game of “Twister” was played there..such fun. Also, The Twist...dancing in the basement. The kids would see who could last the longest dancing before quitting with cramps. I have nothing but fondest memories of Carol. I would see her with Paul sometimes around town, and we would catch up.

Carol was an angel walking on earth. To her family and friends may the loss of Carol's love be filled by the love of family and friends who remain.

Those we love do not go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, stilled missed and very dear. My deepest condolences to the Bailey family. Sincerely, Jeff Force, a Grover.

Carol, you are already missed but never forgotten. From that first day at college when Ruth noticed we brought identical towels our friendship grew for over 46 years through life's ups and downs. This last hurdle sucked, but you handled it with dignity while supporting us. Thank you for not only being a great friend, but also being family.
Love, Shetz
