Thomas P. Monte, 80, of Wall Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Sunnyside Manor. Tom was born in Springfield, MA and lived most of his life in East Longmeadow, MA until moving to New Jersey 8 years ago to be closer to family.

Tom worked in the shipping and receiving department of Johnson’s Bookstore in Springfield, MA for over 30 years. He loved his job and took great pride in it. Tom was an extremely friendly person, he loved to talk and he would always make you feel special. It is no wonder that he had so many friends. Tom had a sweet and gentle soul and he charmed everyone who crossed his path. He also had an unbelievable memory. He was always the “go to” person in the family for remembering the important dates and specifics on events. Tom loved being the greeter at Sunnyside Manor, he had many friends there and he loved the staff like family.
Tom loved to travel in his younger years. He loved watching baseball, football and hockey, he was an avid New England sports fan. Tom loved old movies, he adored animals and he enjoyed going for walks. Most of all Tom loved his family and he loved family gatherings. He loved sitting by the pool, going out to lunch, taking a ride by the beach and celebrating holidays. He enjoyed his family bringing him iced coffee and donuts and just spending time together talking. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Philip and Barbara Monte and his stepfather Clarence Andruss. He was also predeceased by his sister-in-law Janice L. Monte whom he had a very special relationship with, and his step siblings Elizabeth, Eugene, Cecelia and Robert. Thomas is survived by his loving family, brothers Alan Monte of Manasquan, NJ and George Monte and his wife Carol of Monson, MA and his beloved nieces and nephews, Kristen Godek and husband Dr. Christopher Godek, Jeffrey Monte and his wife Jennifer, Lisa Hill and her late husband Darrin, Laura Cuipenski and her husband Michael, Janice Varelas and her husband Stephen, and 8 very special grandnieces and grandnephews, Max, Alex, Emily, Abigail, Austin, Madison, Abby and Corbin. Tom is also survived by his cousins Courtland and Charlotte Kites and Edward Pelzer.
A private celebration of Tom’s beautiful life will be under the direction of the Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, NJ.
