Richard Paul “Dick” Gibson, 92 of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away on February 23, 2020 at St. Lucie Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Dick was born and raised in Neptune City, NJ. He graduated from St Rose High School, Belmar, and after graduation he enlisted into the US Army. Dick served as a medic during World War II in Belgium and Rome. After his military service Dick began his 35-year career as a pipefitter for Local 331, Asbury Park, NJ which later merged into Local 9, Englishtown, NJ. Dick was an exempt firefighter for Neptune City Fire Company and a member of the Asbury Park Elks. He and his wife of 66 years, Adelaide loved going to the Elks to dance and socialize. Around the mid 1960’s Dick moved his family to Sea Girt, NJ. Dick retired in 1987 and he, his wife, and youngest daughter, Diane, moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida. There Dick enjoyed going to the beach with his wife and boating with his friends. He was a “River Rats” member, a fellowship of veterans who met evenings by the river docks to fish. Dick and his wife also enjoyed traveling especially to Europe where he had served during his time in the Army.

Dick was predeceased by his parents John and Myrth (nee Youmans) Gibson; his two brothers John and James Gibson and his sister Jeanette Sarada. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Adelaide (nee Lone) Gibson; his three loving children Gale Gibson Herrman of Cary, NC, Richard B Gibson (Joanne) of Sea Girt, NJ and Diane Gibson of Port St. Lucie, FL. Dick was the cherished grandfather of Elizabeth Anne Barefoot (Spencer) of Chapel Hill, NC, and John William Herrman (Emily) and their daughter, Penelope, from Brooklyn, NY.
