Gerald C. Marcincavage, 76 of Wall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Gerald was born and raised in Ranshaw, PA. He was a graduate of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania with his bachelor’s degree. He began his teaching career in Ithaca, NY before moving to Carteret where he taught social studies for almost 30 years at Carteret High School. After his retirement from teaching, Gerald worked as a supervisor for Area-Wide Protection, he was a claims processor for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and a quality control officer for the Monmouth County Landfill. Gerald was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles and NASCAR fan. He thoroughly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was known as the “Warrior” because he would travel anywhere to watch his grandchildren participate in their extra-curricular activities. It didn’t matter if it was a 3-hour ride or a 10-hour ride, he was there.

Gerald is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Barbara (nee Bergal) Marcincavage, of Wall, his two loving sons and daughters-in-law, David and Rebecca Marcincavage of East Bend, NC and Marcus and Jill Marcincavage of Pittsburgh, PA. Gerald was the cherished grandfather of Lauren, Emily, Roddy and Kinsey-Ann. He is also survived by a beloved sister, Justine Reinoehl and her husband Gary of MD.

Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan. Cremation was private. Memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Central Jersey Chapter, 740 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702 or online at To send condolences to the family please visit

There are no words to describe how terrible I feel for the family of this wonderful man. Gerry, Barb and my late husband Butch spent many fun times together camping through the many long years of our friendship. Gerry was always there for everybody that needed him. His family was always his #1 priority. Nothing came before them. I can't express how much he will be missed. Much love to his family and may everyone find peace in knowing he is at home with our Maker and no longer suffering.

So very sad to hear about Jerald, we were fraternity brothers at Mansfield. He will be missed by his Sigma Tau Gamma brothers.

Very sad to learn this. I met him in 1965, our freshman year at Mansfield State Collge then. A great friend. So very sorry for his loss.
