Maureen M. Larkin
Resident of South Orange and Point Pleasant, NJ
Maureen M. Larkin, nee McKenna, 89, passed away due to Parkinson’s on Oct. 11, 2020 at home surrounded by family. Maureen was raised in South Orange and attended Our Lady of Sorrows School, Our Lady of the Valley in Orange, and Washington Secretarial School. She played basketball, softball, tennis, golf, was a competitive bowler, and went parasailing. Her father, an avid horseman, taught her how to ride bareback. She was an executive secretary for the Air Force, John E. Joyce, NJ Transit, and Morrow Memorial Church. She was a member of The Women of Irish Heritage, Right to Life and The Rosary Altar Society of St. Martha’s Church, Pt. Pleasant. Maureen and her beloved husband James Larkin, who were married at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and raised their 4 children in South Orange, just celebrated 66 years of wedded bliss on Oct. 9, 2020. Together they traveled to Africa, Paris, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Cuba, Mexico, Canada, Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She looked forward to their trips to San Francisco and Ojai, CA to visit their son Bob, as well as the many excursions to Ireland with dear friends.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John McKenna and her brother John McKenna (Leona). Along with James, she is survived by their children, James, Kevin (Patti), Bob (Kimberly), and Maureen Sinclair (Matt) and by her grandchildren, Colleen Larkin, Matthew Larkin, Kyle Griffith, Catie Jo Larkin, Jake Larkin, Cathleen Sinclair, and Shannon Sinclair.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Visiting Nurse Assoc. of Central Jersey, Interim Healthcare, especially Tess, Ruth, Christine, Joan, Anne, Anna, Annie, and family friends Jeanann Early, Mike Inserra, and Craig & Valerie Slininger for always being on-call.
A visitation will be held at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Rd, Manasquan, NJ on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martha’s RC Church, 3800 Herbertsville Rd., Point Pleasant, NJ on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 am.
