Lavonne Maxine Taylor (nee Fox), age 90, of Jessup, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020 in Elkridge, Maryland. Lavonne was born on November 18, 1930 in Centerville, Kansas to Reba G. Fox and Thomas A. Fox. She was a member of the first graduating class of Fair Lawn High School in 1948. Lavonne married Walter I. Taylor on June 24, 1950. They lived in Fair Lawn until 1976 when they moved to Shark River Hills, New Jersey. She also lived in Neptune City and Wall Township New Jersey until 2018 when she moved to Jessup, Maryland. Lavonne worked in the banking industry for most of her adult life. She worked her way up to a bank officer position which she held until her first retirement in 1995. She went back to banking work until her final retirement at age 75 in 2005. Lavonne loved working with the public and her banking position enabled her to help others as well.

She was also predeceased by her parents, Reba and Thomas Fox of New Jersey. Lavonne is survived by her loving children Lavonne D. Smith and her husband Ralph Smith of Jessup, Maryland; Jamie L. Taylor and her husband William Kenney of the Town of Newburgh, New York; Thomas J. Taylor and his girlfriend Lorraine Biniek of Belmar, New Jersey. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy M. Craig of Wall Township, New Jersey and grandchildren Jacquelyn T. Harbison, William W. Kenney and his wife Tamara Siseles and Thomas W. Smith. Other survivors include nieces Patricia L. Gallagher of Wall Township, New Jersey and her sons William and Dennis, nephew Harold Taylor and his wife Kathie of Fair Lawn, New Jersey and nephew Kenneth Taylor. Lavonne is also survived by her sister-in-law Frances Van Olden and her husband Wayne of Fair Lawn, New Jersey and their children Glen Van Olden, Dori Little and Gail Courtney.
A celebration of her life, memorial service and burial will be held at a future date so all wishing to attend may do so safely. She will be laid to rest following the memorial service alongside the love of her life, Walter I. Taylor who predeceased her in 1991. Her burial will take place at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lavonne’s name may be given to Special Olympics Maryland or the NODCC (National Organization of Disorders of the Corpus Callosum) or a charity of one’s choice.
