Catherine "Cathy" Guarini, 54, of South Orange, NJ passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, West Orange, NJ from COVID complications. Cathy was born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Clifton, NJ. After graduating from Passaic County Vo-Tech High School, she worked at Hudson County Vo-Tech in North Bergen for many years. When Cathy became a member of the JESPY House group in 1993 a new world opened to her. She thrived with the support of a caring staff and the companionship of many friends. She enjoyed playing card games, knitting, crocheting, video games, art, writing, and poetry. With her sweet smile, infectious laugh, and generous heart, she was loved by all who knew her.
Cathy is survived by her devoted parents, William and Mary Lou (née Richardi) Guarini of Manasquan, and a beloved brother and sister-in-law, Captain William J. Guarini, Jr. USN (retired) and his wife Tracy, of Rockville, MD. She was the cherished aunt to Will, Claire, and Alex. Cathy is also survived by an uncle, Daniel Richardi of West Palm Beach, FL, and the many loving Brennan, Soltmann, Mourad, and Richardi cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. The funeral Mass will be private for the immediate family and invited guests and social distancing will be observed. The funeral Mass will be live streamed for remote attendance and a memorial will be held at a later date.
