Janine Carol (Johnson) Stewart, 56 of Brick passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Janine was born and raised in Spring Lake Heights where her love for the beach and enthusiasm for athletics flourished. She could be seen riding her bike to Spring Lake beach, local tennis courts, and little league fields for a friendly, yet competitive pick-up game with friends. Janine was a proud graduate of Manasquan High School’s class of 1983, where she lettered in varsity tennis for four years and was involved in various clubs and extra-curriculars. She continued her education at the University of South Carolina where she went on to become a resident mentor, member of the Delta Gamma sorority, and under-graduate with a degree in Business Administration in 1988. Before starting a family and committing to raising her four children, Janine held administrative positions working for Shearson Lehman in Shrewsbury, NJ and Waterford Wedgewood in Wall, NJ for several years. Janine was a devoted mother who dedicated her years to every dimension of her children’s lives. She was always there to support her children and family members whether it be in the home, bleachers, sidelines, or audience. To her children, nieces, and nephews, she was always the greatest cheerleader. Her kindness and passion for helping children did not stop at her own, which lead her to working as a para-professional at Middletown Village Elementary School assisting students with their individual needs. Janine raised her four children in Middletown, NJ before moving and returning to the Jersey Shore in 2005. Over the past 15 years, Janine worked at B&B Trophy, Awards and Engraving, where she created many friendships and relationships due to her kind, easy way of connecting with everyone she met. Janine was an avid tennis player and could be found throughout the years playing on courts throughout Monmouth County and women’s leagues at Colts Neck Racquet Club. Some of her greatest joys and memories made were with family and friends in the sand at the Jersey Shore and Myrtle Beach, SC.
Janine was predeceased by her father Dieter Johnson (former Matawan High School coach). She is survived by her cherished children Samantha, Erin, Ian and Kyle Stewart, their father Sean Stewart; her beloved mother, Janice Johnson, devoted sister Pamela and her husband Mark Herrmann; adoring sister in-laws Catherine Stewart, Melanie and her husband Scott Arnott, and loving nieces and nephews Jamie Herrmann, Lindsey and Connor Ilchert, Sean, Griffin, and Jason Arnott.
