Edward M. Slocum, 93, a lifelong resident of Wall Township passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday January 9, 2021. Predeceased by his parents Chester Slocum and Sarah Eleanor Hamson Slocum;
his brothers James and Kenneth Slocum and sisters Carol Guthrie and Helen Howard. He leaves behind his sweetheart of 73 years Madelyn Gardner Slocum. They cherished their frequent trips to Atlantic City and often would bring family along to show them how it was done. No more a loving Father was there.
He had 5 children: Judith Rutledge, Vicki Capaci, Donald Slocum, Diane Mazza and Wayne Slocum.
11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A 1945 Graduate of Manasquan High School, he enlisted in the US Navy that year as well. Smiling Ed was a lifelong carpenter in the area working with his father and sons, You’d be hard pressed to find a house that he hadn’t worked on over the years. In his early days he was a coach and organizer of the Wall Little League and active in the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts.
Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan. No services are planned at this time.
