Brenda Heller-Harry (Heller)

Brenda K. Heller-Harry, 68 of Wall passed away peacefully on Thursday January 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Brenda was born on November 14, 1952 in Neptune, NJ and was raised by her parents Peter John Heller and Ruby Kilby Heller in West Belmar, NJ. After graduating from Wall Township High School, she went on to study Education at Montclair University.

Brenda became a Home Economics and Social Studies teacher at Wall Intermediate School. She taught there for twenty-five years, touching the lives of her students, and developing many enduring friendships. It was there that she met her husband of forty years, Lon J. Harry.
Brenda was an avid baseball fan who knew the history and enjoyed attending games and enjoyed keeping the scorebook. She was a bird enthusiast who often shared detailed knowledge of them to others. She assisted in her community as a Girl Scout Leader, providing young girls with a strong female role model. Her fondness of literature and the written word led to participate in a book club while sharing her love of books with her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and she happily shared her creations with her family and friends.

After retiring, Brenda enjoyed many activities. Her appreciation for American history made her and Lon’s adventures to local historical sites more enjoyable. They often traveled to Colonial Williamsburg and also Maine for whale watching. She and Lon enjoyed antiquing locally along the east coast. She was fond of the theatre and truly loved her trips into the city with her family.

Brenda was predeceased by her father, Peter John Heller; her mother Ruby Kilby Heller; her Uncle William Heller; and her Aunt Doris Heller.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of forty years, Lon J. Harry; her daughter Brueck Slawsky and her husband Randy Slawsky and their daughter Paige; her stepdaughter Jennifer Abrecht and her husband Curt Abrecht and their children Brian, Emily and Grace; her stepson Mike Dolan and his wife Jenny Dolan and their children Shannah, Sarah, and Keirah; and her stepson Chris Harry and his wife Beth Harry and their children Lauren, Ryan and Landen.

Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan. There will be a celebration of life service at a later date.
