William H. Martens
William H. Martens, 83, of Monmouth Beach, NJ, formerly of Montvale, NJ, beloved Servant of the Lord, passed peacefully to eternal life on February 7, 2021. He was raised in Oradell, NJ and served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He managed the family business, Martens Five and Dime, before spending the rest of his career at Pepperidge Farm. His passion for antique cars and racing allowed him to volunteer at Wall Stadium Speedway during retirement. Bill was kind, caring, hard-working and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a self-taught craftsman who loved to build and fix anything and everything. His most cherished moments were spending time with family.
He was the devoted husband to Linda (Selenske) for 60 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Randy and Karen Martens, Amy and Frank Johannes, Jennifer and Glen Sisti, Sally and Kevin James. His 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren adoringly called him “Poppy”. He was the dear brother of Ginger, Susan, Jan and the late June and Betty, along with 23 nieces and nephews.
