Joan Ellen Kovacs 75, Manasquan, passed away on February 11, 2021 peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband Sandor Kovacs, parents Ernest and Anna Lewis and by her grandson Ryan Dellegrippo. She is survived by her brother Paul Lewis and niece Joannie of Freehold, children Debra Gleason, (Sean) Manasquan, Diane Dellegrippo, (Craig) Manasquan, Steve Kovacs, (Ashlee) Freehold and John Kovacs, (Taylor) of Manasquan. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to Conor, Jack and Mary Gleason, Ryan, Matthew and Kaitie Dellegrippo, Kennedi Kovacs, Maddison and John Kovacs.

Joan grew up on her family farm in Freehold and graduated Freehold High School. She worked as a legal secretary for Alexander Levchuk and Robert Wines in Freehold for 40 years. She resided in Manasquan for the past 53 years. She loved relaxing and spending time on Riddle and Sea Watch Beach surrounded by her grandchildren. Her most cherished memories included hosting Christmas Eve at her house and having Santa arrive on the firetruck. It was a tradition she never missed since 1969.
Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan. There was a celebratory mass of life on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Manasquan United Methodist Church, 23 Church Street, Manasquan, NJ. Interment took place at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her name to the Manasquan United Methodist Church at the above listed address.
