Obituary

Frederick J. Metzger, Jr. passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Saturday, February 13, 2021 of natural causes, just two days shy of his 80th birthday.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Fred graduated Mechanics Institute in Manhattan and then Staten Island Community College. Fred was active in the Army Reserve from 1963 thru 1969. Fred had a 37 year career with Con Edison in Manhattan and Westchester. After retirement, Fred worked for the NY Board of Fire Underwriters as an electrical inspector and eventually retired to Manasquan, NJ. Fred was a proud parishioner and usher at St. Peter's Church in Point Pleasant Beach. He was an active participant in the American Legion Post 0529, the Knights of Columbus since 1963, Westchester Con Edison Retirees Club.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Veronica Metzger and his beloved sister, Joann Williams. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Ann of 43 years, sister Marianne Kirby (Jack), brother Francis Metzger (Dena), nieces Mary Kirby Sinclair ( Peter), Margaret Weiland (Aaron), Ann Marie Richardson (Brian), grand niece and nephew Matilda and Dylan Richardson.

On February 24, 2021 a private viewing will be held at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ for immediate family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Church, 406 Forman Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ at 11 am. All are welcome. Social distancing will be practiced including wearing masks. A private interment will take place at Madonna Mausoleum, Fort Lee, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a local food pantry or a charity of your choice.
