Gloria spent most of her vibrant, full life in New Jersey, where she met her beloved husband Dr. Thaddeus Leoniak and where she worked in their Brick ophthalmologist office. In a letter, Dr. Leoniak once wrote that her "innate and instinctive awareness of other people’s feelings, her willingness to respond to their needs and her strict adherence to the ‘golden rule’”, made Gloria the “glue” of the office. Even after her husband’s passing in 2004, she continued to work there, forging many wonderful friendships with patients, doctors and staff who appreciated her calm, confident and caring personality.
Anyone who knew Gloria also knows that she exuded a down-to-earth elegance that is rare in this world and that she was a very compassionate, intelligent, and witty person. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed creating intricate cards with rubber stamps, birdwatching, researching her Italian genealogy, visiting her favorite second-hand shops, and experimenting with new recipes from her collection of cookbooks. She also enjoyed talking with others about her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who she loved very much. Gloria will be forever missed. At her request, no services will be held and, instead of flowers, Gloria would have wanted those who would like to memorialize her to express their love for those they value most.
Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, NJ. All services were private. Gloria was laid to rest next to husband Thaddeus at Brig Gen William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. To send condolences to the family please visit www.orenderfamilyhome.net
